Meet the knowledgeable and friendly doctors who make Madison Eye Care the leading provider of vision care services.


Dr. Peter V. Mogyordy

Practice Owner, Optometrist

Dr. Mogyordy attended Kenyon College where he played intercollegiate football, enjoyed the Beta Theta Pi fraternity, and earned his Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Chemistry.

After graduating from The Ohio State College of Optometry, Dr Mogyordy became president of Madison Eye Care. He soon founded Ocular Services Management, a company dedicated to preserving the vision of the elderly in nursing homes, assisted living, and independent living communities in and around Cleveland.

Dr. Mogyordy is a member of the American Optometric Association, Ohio Optometric Association, and Contact Lens Section of the OOA and is a past governor of the Cleveland Optometric Association. He also serves as the Administrator to the Ohio Vision Source.

He resides in Westlake with his wife, Amy, and his three children, Madeline, J.P. and Olivia.

Dr. Gregory J. Kovats

Optometrist, Clinic Manager

Dr. Kovats is proud to be both a Bobcat and a Buckeye, receiving his undergraduate degree from Ohio University and then his Doctor of Optometry degree from The Ohio State University in 2004, both with honors.

Dr. Kovats was born and raised in northeast Ohio and is proud to serve his hometown community. He joined the Madison Eye Care team early in his career in 2005. Dr. Kovats is passionate about quality comprehensive patient care. He specializes in treating ocular disease and fitting specialty contact lenses on patients with ‘difficult-to-fit’ corneas.

In his spare time Dr. Kovats is a self-proclaimed ‘music nerd’ and is an avid Cleveland sports fan. He enjoys taking time to coach both of his son’s football and baseball teams. Dr. Kovats and his wife, Jennifer, live in Olmsted Falls with their children, Evan and Kyle, and their 2 dogs, Rosie and Penny.

Dr. Leah Steele

Optometrist

Dr. Steele earned her bachelors in science at John Carroll University where she studied physics and mathematics. She then went on to The Ohio State University College of Optometry where she graduated with honors. During her time at OSU she got the opportunity to rotate through the Wade Park VA Hospital in Cleveland as well as the Department of Ophthalmology at University Hospitals. These experiences helped sharpen her skills in treating ocular disease, fine tune her contact lens expertise, and allowed her to work closely with pediatric patients.

After graduating from OSU, Dr. Steele spent a few years in private practice in Western Pennsylvania before moving back home to Northeast Ohio and joining Madison Eye Care in 2014. Here at Madison Eye Care, she enjoys getting to know her patients and their families and especially loves working with young children.

Dr. Steele and her husband, Dan, live in Brecksville with their children, Hugo, Arlo, and Enzo.

Dr. Kyle Koubek

Optometrist

Dr. Kyle Koubek earned his Bachelors of Arts and Science at Bowling Green State University where he studied biology. After earning his degree, Dr. Kyle then went on to the Illinois College of Optometry where he graduated in 2018.

While attending ICO he had the opportunity to rotate through the Wade Park VA Hospital in Cleveland. Although he enjoys providing full scope eye care, it was at the VA where he developed a passion for treating and managing ocular disease.

Dr. Kyle is a member of the American Optometric Association (AOA) as well as the Ohio Optometric Association (OOA). He joined the Madison Eye Care team in 2019 and currently lives in Berea with his fiancé Victoria.

Dr. Natalie Maiorca

Optometrist

Dr. Maiorca received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology and Neuroscience from Miami University. She then earned her Doctor of Optometry degree from The Ohio State University where she graduated cum laude. During her time in school, she held an active role in the SVOSH organization, taking service trips to Africa and Peru to provide free eye care. She also received her Masters in Vision Science from The Ohio State University, completing her thesis “Study of Eye Convergence” in 2019.

Since graduation from OSU, she has worked in private practices gaining experience managing a variety of eye conditions ranging from diabetic eye health, glaucoma, and dry eye to specialty contact lens fitting and pediatric eye exams.

She and her husband, Francesco, currently reside in Rocky River with their daughter, Liliana. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, yoga and gardening.

Dr. David Sterna

Optometrist

Dr. Sterna graduated from the College of Wooster with a Bachelor of Arts in chemistry. He also studied Latin-American culture at the Centro de Estudios Universitarios Colombo-Americano in Colombia, South America. He later graduated from The Ohio State University College of Optometry. After graduation he started his private practice in Lorain where he practiced full scope eye care with an emphasis in geriatrics and disease management. In 2011 he was one of the first optometrists in the United States to become Board Certified by the American Board of Optometry. A few years later he was awarded a fellowship in the American Academy of Optometry in recognition of his professional competence.

As an active doctor in the profession, Dr. Sterna has served the American Board of Optometry as Ohio State ambassador, Member-At-Large of the Board of Directors, Board Chair, and academic committees.
Dr. Sterna now shares his time serving the great patients of Madison Eye Care and assisting United States military service veterans with their disability evaluations.
His wife Dianna, a licensed optician, has been by his side since he first began practice in 1985. Today their family consists of their 4 dogs – Trixie, Lexie, Macie, and Bodhi.
